Hey! You can click here to go to "Just Talk" any time of day (or night -- except I'm giving you all a bedtime of 10:00 -- tee-hee) and you can chat with each other. Write your messages in the comment boxes and post them. Remember to keep it clean and appropriate and kind.
Do not do any editing on this page.
October --
When you edit, revise, or otherwise work on your September book assessment, you do not need to go out to another program. Work directly on the page.
Make sure it is your own page -- with your name at the upper left in orange.
If the template is not already on your page, you may copy it and paste it on your page.
If you have extra time, you may read the work of other students who have finished. DO NOT CHANGE anyone else's page. You may make appropriate comments in the comment boxes.
Important note: No part of this assignment asks for just a summary of the story. Don't just summarize, and don't include any spoilers (giving away the ending or another part that the reader shouldn't know until he or she gets to it while reading the book).
The purpose is to use the information about setting and character that you gathered on your charts. Use that information to describe well the setting and one or more characters.
September 23/24, 2009
Today you will write your assessment in Word, then cut and paste to your Wiki page.
1. Open a new Word document, or you may type directly onto your own wiki page. See below for directions to get to your page.
2. Copy just the template below (between the straight lines) and paste it into Word. Then type your information, letter, and recommendation.
3. Look in the navigation bar to your right for the folder for students for 2009-2010 Student Pages. Your page will be in that folder. Open your page.
Make sure your name appears at the upper left before you do any pasting or make any other changes.
Log in when you get to this point.
4. Copy what you have done from Word, and paste that on your wiki page (the one with your name). Make sure your name appears at the upper left before you do any pasting or make any other changes.
Make sure you save (on the wiki page) when you are done.
5. Finish your work by the end of class, and turn in your charts before you go. You may complete or edit from home, but do this soon, since I will be grading these soon.
Template: See directions above for using this template. You will copy the template enclosed between the straight lines and paste it into Word so you can work on it.
Do not change the template on this page. Copy it and change it in Word and on your own wiki page.

On your wiki,
-- You may also add links on your page to other pages on the Internet with information on the book. For instance, you could add a link to web page or blog by the author of the book. Here's Joan Bauer's official web page: http://www.joanbauer.com/ I found the web page, copied the URL (address), pasted it here, selected it, clicked on Insert a link to a new page (look to the right here under "Pages") and made sure that "URL" and the address of that page were in the boxes, and clicked "Okay."
